How to Know When You Need Therapy as a Mom

Motherhood changes everything. One day, you're going through pregnancy, and the next, you're balancing feedings, sleep deprivation, and the constant demands of little hands.

It’s overwhelming—more than you ever expected.

You’re the one everyone turns to, the one who keeps it all together. But while you’re tending to everyone else, who’s looking out for you? The weight of expectations, the endless to-do lists, and the unsolicited advice can leave you feeling like you're barely keeping your head above water. That exhaustion, that frustration—it’s not because you’re failing. It’s because you’re carrying too much.

Lately, you might be…

  • Wondering why motherhood feels so much harder than you imagined

  • Overwhelmed by the never-ending responsibilities

  • Caught in a cycle of worry and worst-case scenarios

  • Feeling isolated, even when surrounded by others

  • Doubting yourself and your instincts—especially when they go against the norm

  • Frustrated by how much falls on your shoulders

  • Struggling with the decision to return to work or stay home

  • Needing space to process the experience of pregnancy or childbirth

  • Questioning if you’re doing it "right" or if you're a "good enough" mom

  • Trying to reconnect with who you are beyond motherhood

  • Wanting to break generational patterns but unsure where to start

As a mom myself, I know how you feel.

It’s okay to ask for the help you need.

How therapy works

How Our Online Therapy for Moms Works

Therapy gives you the space to breathe—to focus on yourself without guilt or interruption. It’s a chance to process everything you’re carrying, understand your emotions, and reconnect with who you are beyond motherhood.

Together, we’ll explore the ups and downs of this journey, helping you trust your instincts, set boundaries, and release the self-doubt that makes you question if you’re doing enough.

Most importantly, it’s a reminder that your needs matter too. You deserve the same care and attention you give to everyone else. I’ll help you quiet the worries, ease the overwhelm, and find more moments of presence and peace with your family—without feeling like you’re running on empty.

My approach

In therapy with me…

  • You don’t have to explain away your frustration or exhaustion. I already understand. Motherhood, from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond, isn’t always what you expected. Some days feel impossible, and that’s okay. Our sessions will be a space where you can be honest about the hard parts without fear of judgment. There’s nothing wrong with you, and you’re not alone in this. Every step forward matters, and I’ll be here to support you as you find your way.

  • In our first session, we’ll take time to understand what brought you here. I want to hear about your child or children, your partner or co-parent, and the challenges that feel overwhelming right now. We’ll talk about what you need from therapy, set meaningful goals, and explore ways to make space for yourself again, without guilt.

  • Once we know what’s weighing on you, we’ll look deeper. How your own childhood shaped your views on motherhood, what patterns are adding to your stress, and what shifts can help you feel more at ease. We’ll find tools to manage anxiety, communicate your needs, and regain a sense of balance. By the time we’re done, I want you to feel more confident in yourself, not just as a mom, but as you.

You’ll discover:

  • Confidence & self-compassion – Trust yourself and give yourself the grace you deserve.

  • More balance – In your daily responsibilities and in your mind.

  • Less worry – Quiet anxious thoughts so you can be more present with your family.

  • More self-care & authenticity – Express your needs and take care of yourself without feeling guilty.

Frequently asked questions about therapy for moms

  • Postpartum depression is a type of depression that can happen after childbirth. Many new moms experience "baby blues" in the first few weeks, but for some, the sadness, anxiety, or exhaustion lasts much longer. About 1 in 7 mothers experience a more intense and lasting depression that can make daily life feel even harder. Support can help you start feeling like yourself again.

  • Perinatal refers to the time around childbirth, including both pregnancy and the weeks after giving birth. Perinatal depression includes both prenatal (before birth) and postpartum (after birth) depression. I work with women during this period, as well as through early motherhood and beyond.

  • Postpartum depression can bring intense emotions like sadness, irritability, mood swings, exhaustion, or feeling disconnected. You might cry more often, have trouble sleeping, or feel numb and overwhelmed. Postpartum anxiety can cause panic attacks, constant worry, insomnia, loss of appetite, or even physical symptoms like dizziness and shortness of breath. Therapy can help you manage and ease them.
